The Audiobook Launch Checklist: Everything to Do Before You Publish
You made the audiobook — now do not fumble the launch. A clean release sets up reviews, rankings, and momentum; a rushed one wastes the work. Run through this checklist before you hit publish, and nothing important slips.
1. Production
- Audio is ACX-compliant (44.1kHz, 192kbps, correct loudness, room tone).
- Chapters are split cleanly and named.
- You did a pronunciation pass and a full listen-through.
2. Assets
- Cover art meets audiobook spec (square, correct resolution).
- A gripping retail sample is selected and trimmed.
- Title, description, and keywords are written.
- An ISBN is sorted if your distributor needs one.
3. Distribution
- You have chosen exclusive vs wide.
- Platforms and distributor accounts are set up.
- Pricing is set for each store.
4. Marketing
- Your email list knows the launch date.
- Promo codes are ready for early reviewers.
- Social clips and an audiogram are cut from the sample.
- A launch-week plan is written down.
The one-line rule
If a listener can hear it, trust it, find it, and be told about it, you are ready. Production and sample build trust; distribution makes it findable; marketing tells people it exists. Miss one and the launch underperforms.
